| AA (Action Authorization) |
See GEMM 05-04-06. Also called an EP-14 form, it contains information required for the completion of engineering-directed procedures of modifications, removals, or installations to airframes, powerplants or appliances involving changes in design, structure and/or weight and balance when specific accomplishment tracking of the modification is necessary. |
| AD (airworthiness directive) |
See GEMM 02-08-09. Mandatory with respect to the procedure, rules, aircraft or equipment affected within prescribed time limitations, ADs are covered under FAR 39 and are issued by the FAA. |

| DLRA (designated line release authority) |

| EA (engineering authorization) |
See GEMM 05-04-02. Also called an EP-31, it is issued for one-time repairs, modification, or alterations which deviate from published maintenance procedures and must be issued for repairs not covered in routine publications like overhaul manuals and structural repair manuals. |
| EM (engineering mandatory) |
See GEMM 02-08-09, pg 4. Issued to meet AD or FAR requirements to identify all associated, and/or related documents necessary to accomplish the AD and will identify the activity and paperwork requirements placed upon other areas of the company. |
| EO (engineering order) |
Issued for modification or inspection of an aircraft, engine, or component. |
| ES (engineering specification) |
Establishes NWA requirements for purchase or shop release of an aircraft or component. |
| EV (engineering evaluation) |
Authorizes evaluation of an alternate part or procedure. |

| FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) |
The United States governing organization which regulates the safety of the commercial airline industry. |
| FC (fleet campaign) |
Occurs when there is a need to quickly canvass an aircraft fleet to verify certain information or to accomplish a minor work task with no material requirements. |

| GEMM (General Engineering and Maintenance Manual) |
FAR and NWA company policies form the basis of the GEMM. It is the primary policy manual for Tech Ops and has priority over all other manuals. |

This term is used on documentation when some items are not appropriate to the work being accomplished. When this is the case, use “N/A” in any block or portion of a form not applicable to the work being accomplished. |

| OM-153 danger tag |
A red colored tag used when ground equipment is unfit for use and cannot or should not be used |
| OM-154 caution tag |
A yellow colored tag used on equipment that can be used to complete a particular service only when extreme care is given. |
| OM-249 warning tag |
A blaze orange (almost red) colored tag used to prevent release of an A/C from maintenance with tasks incomplete or prevent accidental injury to an employee or damage to an A/C |
| OM-250 caution tag |
this tag is changing as of 11/1/04 to red stripes—om250-a and om250-b an orange tag used on items which must not be activated during the maintenance process. They are used to caution others that those tagged items should be handled with care |
| OM-675 cargo door caution placard |
A notice that will be used anytime a cargo door counterbalance is inoperative.
